Plant habit: Annual, Bush
Sow: Spring: Direct 4cm deep, space 45cm apart on open sunny bed. Germination 5-10days@24°C
Grow: Any soil, full sun. Stake if exposed to wind.
Uses lots of potash, replace/rotate following year.
Pollination: Self-pollinating/Cross pollinating Crosses with Helianthus annuus var.
Seed Saving: When petals fall, cut & dry head till no longer soft &damp. Work seeds free, snap test for dryness, if seeds bend dry longer in layers less than 2.5cm(not in sun).
Uses: Dries swampy soil, attracts good bugs &bees, leaves animal fodder, seed rich in(long burning)oil,
