Hibiscus sabdariffa



Plant habit: annual sparse shrub to 2 meters with beige and scarlet flowers
Sow: Soak seeds in warm water to increase germination. Spring direct in ground with soil temps between 20-35°C.
Grow: Requires 6 months till harvest. Will die off with frost. Water well and give a food when flowering starts
Crosses with: Hibiscus sabdariffa
Seed Saving: Collect seeds once pods are dry. Use gloves as pods can be prickly.
Uses: Red calyx dried and used as a tea, made into cordial and jam. High in Vit C. Young leaves may be used like spinach.
